PGC International's Presentation at the SWRI Conference Draws Good Marks
The Protective Glazing Council (PGC) International gave a formal presentation on the association and the protective glazing industry at the recent Sealant Waterproofing and Restoration (SWR) Institute Fall Technical Meeting in Baltimore.  Presenting the various applications and technologies on behalf of the organization were PGC International Vice President Scott Haddock of Glasslock, Inc., and Julie Schimmelpenningh of Solutia Inc.  The presentation, composed by the PGC International Liaison Committee, offered a wide variety of solution technologies and a snapshot of industry codes, standards and more.

"This presentation received some great feedback for the organization," said Sara Neiswanger, Account Executive for PGC International.  "Several companies that requested membership information immediately after the presentation, and many others are looking to PGC International for more information on the industry."

While the presentation showcased hurricane, blast and multi-threat solutions and studies, it also discussed potential collaboration between PGC International and the SWR Institute.  The benefits of collaboration include:

  • Networking with specialty contractors who often sub installation of sealant, film, mechanical attachments, etc.
  • Training and education opportunities (mock-up test requirements, building codes, QC procedures, etc.) where protective glazing is specified

"There is great crossover potential for SWR Institute and PGC International members," explained Ellen Zerucha of Tremco, Inc., current chair of the Liaison Committee.  "In speaking with a member of SWRI's Board of Directors, he felt the presentation went over well, and it related to his business.  Together, members of both organizations can provide great opportunities for increased collaborative business."

The presentation to SWR Institute is available for download on the Resources section of the PGC International website at www.protectiveglazing.org/resources.
